It's May, the month of Mary, Our Mother!
Junior Legionaries can help spread the love and devotion to the Mother of God and Our Mother, in a number of special ways this month.
One way is for the Junior Legion to sponsor a May Crowning, perhaps together with a Senior Legion praesidium.
You may also follow the May Crowning with a Tea for Auxiliary members, as a little token of appreciation for all their prayers throughout the year. Remember, if the Active members are the fighting soldiers, then the Auxiliary members are the ammunition suppliers! Here's a lovely Tea for Auxiliaries our praesidium did last year, after the parish May Crowning:
The May Crowning -- with or without a Tea following it -- can also be brought to Nursing Homes, as well, making for a special event for a group activity for the residents. A few hymns, some flowers and the crowning, followed by a rosary would make a lovely and memorable Nursing Home visit. Be sure to invite the non-Catholic residents, as well as the Catholic residents!
A Mary Garden is another task that Junior Legionaries may wish to set about doing this month. Plant new fresh flowers, pull weeds, add new mulch and otherwise spruce up around the outdoor Mary statue at your parish. If there is no outdoor statue, ask your Pastor if you can get one. Ask or propose to him a plot of ground where you can plant the garden, and after you get his approval, place the new statue there. Junior Legionaries can tend the garden throughout the summer, being sure to water and weed as needed.
Remember Mary, Our Mother on Mother's Day by bringing Mary to all Moms, by making special Marian Mother's Day cards and distributing them to the sick & elderly, as well as to teachers and of course your own Moms!
